Brian Pedlar is the founder of Pedlar Ventures, a firm that provides growth capital and hands-on operating help to medical device and health-technology companies. He backs a small number of growing businesses with both money and operating experience, taking on executive, board, and advisory roles rather than acting as a passive investor.
Brian has spent more than 24 years leading medical device, health-technology, and software companies as a chief executive, president, and chief financial officer, across businesses listed on NASDAQ, the Toronto Stock Exchange, and the TSX Venture Exchange as well as private companies.
From 2010 to September 2023 he was Chief Executive Officer of Covalon Technologies Ltd. (TSX Venture Exchange: COV), an advanced medical products company based in Ontario that develops therapeutic biomaterials for wound care and surgical applications. Under his leadership Covalon grew revenue roughly thirty-fold, launched ten FDA-cleared product families, and built distribution across more than twenty countries. Earlier, from 2000 to 2006, he was President, CFO, and Director of Finance of Cedara Software, a TSX/NASDAQ medical imaging software company, where the executive team helped grow the business from under $20 million in value to a $900 million market capitalization following a strategic merger. In 2006 he served as Interim Co-CEO of Merge Healthcare, a NASDAQ-listed medical software company, through a leadership and financial crisis.
Today, alongside Pedlar Ventures, Brian is a Senior Advisor at Morrison Park Advisors, a middle-market investment bank, where he leads healthcare mergers and acquisitions. He serves as a director of Mesosil Inc., a private bioactive-particle delivery company, and as a director and advisor to Sonofii Inc., a private medical device company. He has chaired and sat on public and private boards throughout his career, including as Board Chair of Texada Software and a director of Covalon Technologies through 2024.
He is a Canadian Chartered Accountant (CPA, CA), earned through the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, and a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Mount Allison University and a post-graduate accounting diploma from Wilfrid Laurier University.

What Pedlar Ventures does
Through Pedlar Ventures, Brian works directly with a small number of management teams — as an executive, a board member, or an advisor — to help medical device and health-technology businesses grow, and invests alongside the companies he's closely involved with. The firm keeps its portfolio small, holding no more than ten active companies at a time so that each one gets real attention rather than passive capital.
